40 Over 40 Project:

Celebrating women whose power, beauty, strength, grace, and spirit do not diminish with age.

I have photographed, profiled and celebrated 40 women over the age of 40.

WHY 40 OVER 40?

I have been witness to the strength and resilience of all kinds of women in my life but the stories that get to my heart the most often, are the ones of women that society used to label as “past their prime”.

What gives me hope for the future is that I have met woman after woman that have said HELL YES! Women that refuse to be labelled or diminished, are now stepping into their own power. Personally, I feel like I am only beginning to hit my stride. Now I feel called to give a platform to 40 of these women. I want them to be seen, celebrated and have a platform to use their voice to call out to us. I want women all over to hear their stories and be inspired. Will you join me on this journey?

I would like you to meet the UNSTOPPABLE

BIANKA FAULDS

Bianka was the very first person I photographed for this project! Within days of her photoshoot, the world had shut down. It was March 2020. It seems surreal to me now.

Bianka was so game to try anything in her photoshoot. Some of the photos are just for her;) I chose this photo because I felt her confidence and strength here (and it was one of the ones she was happy to share;). We did full glam as well, but I also love the natural and polished styling in a photo like this. We really are multidimensional and it is important to me to capture that in every custom photoshoot.

What is the one piece of advice you would give your 20 something self?

” ‘Chaque chose en son temps’, My mother would say this to me when I was an impatient teen wishing away those years for something ‘more’, whatever more was… Lol…silly teenagers ♡”

"Chaque chose en son temps" translates to "Everything in its time"

My commitment to others allows me to achieve my own goals.

What gets you up in the morning?

“Accountability. Accountability gets me up in the morning. My commitment to others allows me to achieve my own goals. Those people in my ‘bucket’ help me be me in ways they have no idea of but ways I could not do alone.”

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?

“I would say NOW. When we look back on our lives perhaps some of us feel we were more confident in a time past but in actuality I believe we should be most confident in the ‘now’, for it may be the bravery needed to attain what we have been searching for all along.”

I believe we should be most confident in the 'now', for it may be the bravery needed to attain what we have been searching for all along.

I feel beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and confidence and wisdom truly defines how our perfect imperfections make us most attractive, always.

Have your perceptions of what being “attractive” means changed over time?

We’ve all seen the funny memes to the tune of ‘I wish I was a chubby as I thought I was when I was 18’. While this may be a huge generalization, I feel beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and confidence and wisdom truly defines how our perfect imperfections make us most attractive, always.

Are there any myths you would like to bust about being a woman over 40? If so, can you tell us about them?

Myths? Meh.

At some point in everyone’s life an undenial shift happens, for many it seems to be around 40, but when or how doesn’t matter. Just embrace it and do whatever makes your soul happy, the rest will follow
