40 Over 40 Project:

Celebrating women whose power, beauty, strength, grace, and spirit do not diminish with age.

I have photographed, profiled and celebrated 40 women over the age of 40.

WHY 40 OVER 40?

I have been witness to the strength and resilience of all kinds of women in my life but the stories that get to my heart the most often, are the ones of women that society used to label as “past their prime”.

What gives me hope for the future is that I have met woman after woman that have said HELL YES! Women that refuse to be labelled or diminished, are now stepping into their own power. Personally, I feel like I am only beginning to hit my stride. Now I feel called to give a platform to 40 of these women. I want them to be seen, celebrated and have a platform to use their voice to call out to us. I want women all over to hear their stories and be inspired. Will you join me on this journey?

I would like you to meet the UNSTOPPABLE

I’ve worked with Dani before and knew how important her family and her business are to her. She has a beautiful and warm energy about her that makes people want to spend time with her. What I have learned about her, the more time I spend with her, is how playful and slightly (well maybe a lot!) irreverent she is! I love this photo of her because I think it captures some of that spirit. I think you will agree with me once you read her story.

What is the one piece of advice you would give your 20 something self?

“Right now, you might be feeling lost and alone. Some of your supportive people, will be the ones to let you down. It hurts but you will realize that your best growth periods will happen because of these damaged relationships. It will help you find your path.

The reason why you can’t see your path right now is because it is under construction. You are not going to follow in anyone’s footsteps. You are creating your own walkway through a jungle of fears and unknowns. The cool thing though, is once you see where it leads, you will know there was no other place for you to be.

You are stronger than you think. You will need to take risks. Yes, it is scary, but it is definitely worth it!”

My Alarm Clock.

What gets you up in the morning?

“My alarm clock. I like to get up early through the week because I realize, I tend to dawdle before getting ready for work. This way I don’t feel rushed.”

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?

“The older I get, the more confident I become, although being stubborn and stupid, might be mistaken for confidence. I can’t tell the difference.”

Attraction comes from the inside, it's our energy

Have your perceptions of what being “attractive” means changed over time?

“I think when I am in my element at work, I am most attractive. I love what I do and I have the best clients. Who else can say that? Attraction comes from the inside, it’s our energy, and joy that others are attracted to, not just what we look like.”

Are there any myths you would like to bust about being a woman over 40? If so, can you tell us about them?

“We do not lose our sex appeal as we get older. We get better.”
