40 Over 40 Project:

Celebrating women whose power, beauty, strength, grace, and spirit do not diminish with age.

I have photographed, profiled and celebrated 40 women over the age of 40.

WHY 40 OVER 40?

I have been witness to the strength and resilience of all kinds of women in my life but the stories that get to my heart the most often, are the ones of women that society used to label as “past their prime”.

What gives me hope for the future is that I have met woman after woman that have said HELL YES! Women that refuse to be labelled or diminished, are now stepping into their own power. Personally, I feel like I am only beginning to hit my stride. Now I feel called to give a platform to 40 of these women. I want them to be seen, celebrated and have a platform to use their voice to call out to us. I want women all over to hear their stories and be inspired. Will you join me on this journey?

I would like you to meet the UNSTOPPABLE

LISA DRONYK

Lisa was one of the first people I photographed for this project. She had been a headshot client for me years before so I was excited to work with her again. I think she was the very last person I photographed before the world shut down in March 2020. Wow.

What I love about Lisa is the way she completely embraces life. Her energy is infectious and she is the kind of person that is just so easy to spend time with. You can feel that in what she wrote below.

What is the one piece of advice you would give your 20 something self?

“I should have taken more chances/opportunities with my career. I always felt I had to meet every qualification of a job posting. I should have taken more risks and put more time and effort into what I thought would be the measure of my success. Oh… I have definitely should have bought Apple stock!”

There is nothing better than being the only one awake in the house and enjoying that first cup of coffee

What gets you up in the morning?

“Coffee!! I’ve always been a morning person and there is nothing better than being the only one awake in the house and enjoying that first cup of coffee… it’s nirvana!

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?

“My confidence is boosted when I am with people who I love and I know love me. I can feel completely uninhibited and be as goofy and unfiltered or serious as I want and it just doesn’t matter.

In my career, my confidence always came from successful accomplishments that would challenge me (and scare me) and take me completely out of my comfort zone.”

I definitely feel more attractive when I stay committed to daily exercise, healthy eating and feeling strong!

Have Your Perceptions Of What Being ‘Attractive’ Means Changed Over Time?

“When I was younger I felt more attractive when I was happy with the number on the scale. I went on WAY too many diets to count in my 20’s and 30’s! Today, thank goodness; my perception has shifted and I definitely feel more attractive when I stay committed to daily exercise, healthy eating and feeling strong!

Not to say I don’t indulge in a glass of red wine here and there.. for the antioxidants of course!”

Is there anything you would like to share with people in your life?

“I realize that there is more life behind me then in front of me now, so I am working on letting go of the negative stuff. The small stuff is just not worth the time or the worry.”
