40 Over 40 Project:

Celebrating women whose power, beauty, strength, grace, and spirit do not diminish with age.

I would like you to meet the UNSTOPPABLE

Mary is another returning client of mine. She is an incredible business woman and passionate about her family and friends. Fierce and soft is an incredible combination in a woman. When I heard she was from out east, I immediately understood why she exuded all that warmth. I was born in Halifax so there was that immediate connection.

She told me that her favourite photos of the session were the ones in her black suit. I believe that this series of photos represents a side of Mary that she wants to celebrate. These photos showed her with a great sense of classic style, warmth, confidence and a little bit of irreverence;) Just like her.

I have photographed, profiled and celebrated 40 women over the age of 40.

WHY 40 OVER 40?

I have been witness to the strength and resilience of all kinds of women in my life but the stories that get to my heart the most often, are the ones of women that society used to label as “past their prime”.

What gives me hope for the future is that I have met woman after woman that have said HELL YES! Women that refuse to be labelled or diminished, are now stepping into their own power. Personally, I feel like I am only beginning to hit my stride. Now I feel called to give a platform to 40 of these women. I want them to be seen, celebrated and have a platform to use their voice to call out to us. I want women all over to hear their stories and be inspired. Will you join me on this journey?

What is the one piece of advice you would give your 20 something self?

“Be brave, be curious, be fearless. The world is your oyster. There are no limits only those you believe limits your success.”

The world is your oyster.

"When I am willing to go out of my comfort zone"

When in your life, so far, have you felt most confident and why?

When I am strategically thinking and willing to go out of my comfort zone and dare to go after my biggest goals.

Have your perceptions of what being “attractive” means changed over time? What do you define as attractive now?

“I define attractiveness as confidence, willingness to have an open and honest conversation and resolve differences. Having a positive mindset and to see the silver lining in life.”

Having a positive mindset and to see the silver lining in life.

There is always a way to accomplish your goals.

Are there any myths you would like to bust about being a woman over 40? If so, can you tell us about them?

“There is always a way to accomplish your goals. It takes work and a strategy but I believe there is always a way. Being connected to the right people bring the right results.”

Is there anything you would like to share with people in your life?

“I started at the reception desk at Confederation Life after moving from my home province of New Brunswick. I worked my way up through various departments and took some big leaps of faith. I stayed curious and on the never ending but incredible path of learning. I feel at home in my career today. I love that I can help a variety of people of all walks of life. Some are pro bono where I can reach people that my have never thought they would have access to financial advice. I love that with my advice, that could be the information they need to turn life into something more than they started with and they share that with someone. I believe we are all connected and it is our duty to help one another.”
